Whether you're a newcomer / beginner, medium timer or long timer service is a great way to grow, learn and practice the primary purpose of staying sober and helping other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. If you're interested in Service please just contact us here at NKC to join our Home Group.
There are many Service roles here at NKC.
In daily meeting roles we have - Chair/Secretary, Speaker, Security, Chat & Screen Host, Timekeeper, Readers and Greeters.
And we also have out of meeting roles that are not always visible when you attend the meeting but are so very important to the running of the meeting and group, we have quite a few but to name just a few - Committees, Treasurer, Scheduling, Blogs, Flyers, Social Media, Group Service Representative (GSR), Website, Speaker List, Slides, Training Team, Sponsor List and Verifications. (One Year Minimum Rolling Term Commitment for most roles. Committee/Treasurer roles do require a minimum of 2 years of current continuous sobriety and 2 years membership of the NKC Home Group. Other roles vary in current sobriety length).
Sobriety is required for all roles and depending on the role a length of current continuous sobriety time maybe required. Home Group membership is also required for all roles and time in Home Group maybe also be required for some roles.
In addition at NKC, we ask for a moral commitment with a minimum rolling term for each role and if you need to leave you provide notice until we find your replacement. We also ask if you could contribute towards AA's 7th Tradition.
This role requires 6 months of current continuous sobriety and 6 months membership of the NKC Home Group. You will need a laptop or pc/mac.
You will bring fun and excitement to the meeting reading from the Chair/Secretary's script and adding your own flare to the meeting!
One Year Minimum Rolling Term Commitment.
This role requires 6 months of current continuous sobriety and you will just need yourself and the ability to speak for 15 minutes about your life and wonderful journey in AA.
This role requires 3 months of sobriety and you will need a laptop or pc/mac.
You will be the gatekeeper for our meeting, ensuring we're safe and secure at all times.
One Year Minimum Rolling Term Commitment.
This role requires 2 months of sobriety and you will need a laptop or pc/mac.
You will help communicate our messages on Zoom chat and Zoom Screen Sharing ensuring everyone can see our message.
Nine Months Minimum Rolling Term Commitment.
This role requires 1 month of sobriety and you will need a laptop or pc/mac.
As the Timekeeper you will help time keep the speakers and sharers to ensure we run to time just like clockwork!
Six Months Minimum Rolling Term Commitment.
This role requires you to be sober.
Readers will read parts of our messages and AA literature to the group to inspire their thoughts.
Three Months Minimum Rolling Term Commitment.
This role requires you to be sober.
As a Greeter you greet all of the fantastic people that join our Zoom Meeting making them feel warm, loved and so welcome.
Three Months Minimum Rolling Term Commitment.
We ask a few basic points upon joining NKC Service:
- NKC should be your only AA Home Group
- You should have a minimum of three fixed days a week availability for Service
- If you decide you want to leave, you provide the same amount of notice to leave as the duration of your term commitment for the role you're currently in as above or provide notice until NKC find a replacement
- You are or are intending to follow the AA program with a sponsor
